fast shutter speed
slow shutter speed
1. If you were assigned to shoot at Blue and Gold night, which was earlier this month, what shutter speeds do you think you would have to shoot at the following events that night I would like you to answer the question for the following two situations:At the beginning while the sun is still partially up and the courtyard has reasonable light;
a.) the dunking booth - 1/800 shutter speed
b.) the food eating contest - 7 second exposure
c.) the rock climbing wall - 3 second exposure
d.) someone working at a booth - 1/100 shutter speed
e.) the DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle - 5 second exposure
f.) the Diamonds performance - 2 second exposure
Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other;
a.) the dunking booth - 1/400 shutter speed
b.) the food eating contest - 10 second exposure
c.) the rock climbing wall - 6 second exposure
d.) someone working at a booth - 1/25 shutter speed
e.) the DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle - 7 second exposure
f.) the Diamonds performance - 6 second exposure
2. List the three settings your camera has regarding setting shutter speed.
There is the 'Aperture Priority' mode, which enables you to choose the aperture that you want, but automatically calculate the shutter speed for you. There is also 'Shutter Priority' mode, which automatically selects the aperture mode and shutter speed. Finally, there is the 'Manual' mode, which is when the camera allows you to be able to set the shutter speed as well as the aperture size.
