africa

I thought that Brandt is pretty good photographer and I like the way he kind of drains a bit of the color and maximizes the amount of contrast to give the picture sort of a darker atmosphere. I also like how he blurs out the background a little to focus the viewers eyes in the area where he wants them to look.

"I want my images to be an elegy to a world that is tragically vanishing."

This picture was my favorite because it was simple and followed the rule of simplicity. It also has almost complete symmetry as well. The photographer had followed the rule of balance because of the symmetry and the even use of space around the elephant.

Brandt uses a Pentax 67 camera with a 55mm, 105mm, and 200mm lenses. The reason for him to take these photos is because he had always wanted to capture his passion for animals visually and found that photography was the way to go and that he is especially interested in East Africa. He hopes to achieve showing the beauty and personalities that are disappearing. He hopes to be the one to get attention to this vanishing world.
